Pachamama Knitwear

Pachamama Knitwear

Pachamama began in 1990, trading goods from the Andean Mountains of South America at a small market stall in London. From 1996, we began working with knitters in Nepal, trading in hand-crafted wool and cotton products.
From the outset, our ethos has been rooted in strong and sustainable relationships with our suppliers based on mutual respect for all links in the chain of production. We have been working with our producers for significant periods of time – some for over 20 years – ensuring continuous, solid economic and social growth for a large community of people.
The majority of our production is village based, with our knitters supplementing their farming incomes, fitting production around their own family and work commitments. A small number of people work in a factory environment making hand framed knitting, hand finishing and packing our garments, and producing a range of hand felted items. All of these people work in excellent conditions and receive benefits and pay above the local standards.

Despite the seasonal nature of our business Pachamama is committed to providing year round orders for our knitters to ensure a regular and reliable income.
